Anita R. Stampley, DVM, Diplomate - American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. Stampley became interested in veterinary medicine while in undergraduate studies at the University of Denver. She is a graduate of Tuskegee University's School of Veterinary Medicine. A small animal medicine and surgery internship was completed in 1985 at the University of Georgia. Dr. Stampley was a surgical resident at the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine from 1985-1988. She and Dr. Downs returned to the University of Georgia in 1991 to teach small animal surgery. Dr. Stampley obtained her board certification in small animal surgery from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1993. After leaving UGA in 1996, she began a mobile surgery practice in the Athens area.

Myron O. Downs, DVM, PhD, Diplomate - American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. Downs began his veterinary career helping his father in mixed animal practice in California. He is a graduate of Tuskegee University's School of Veterinary Medicine. He was a clinical intern at the University of California at Davis. Between 1982 and 1985, he completed a residency in small animal surgery at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1991, he received his PhD in immunology at the University of Florida's College of Medicine. Dr. Downs taught small animal surgery at the University of Georgia for seven years between 1991 and 1998. He obtained board certification in surgery from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1999. After leaving UGA in 1998, he began practicing surgery in the Atlanta and Athens area.
