North Carolina Board of Veterinary Medicine

License Requirements for Veterinarians  


Anyone meaning to be licensed like a vet must affect the Board and should go ahead and take Sc licensure on-line jurisprudence examination. Programs should be filed using the Board just before the examination. Programs and associated documents is going to be valid for just one year in the initial application date. After twelve months, a brand new application with attendant documents and appropriate costs should be posted. The Board may receive programs from senior students at accredited veterinary schools however, a credit card applicatoin isn't complete before the applicant provides evidence of graduation along with other information as established in the following paragraphs and Board rules.

Any applicant that has not practiced not less than two months in another condition following graduation, or that has not took part in a preceptorship program during their senior year, must obtain a New Graduate Temporary License.

Programs must include:

1. College transcript: Licensed copy from the applicant's transcript, showing veterinary degree, with a college authorized by the American Veterinary Medical Association. Graduates of veterinary medical schools outdoors the U . s . States and Canada are needed to possess certification through the AVMA Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates and can submit evidence of such certification being granted after December 31, 1972 and have AASVB Certification in the Program for that Assessment of Veterinary Education (PAVE). Graduates of colleges outdoors the U . s . States and Canada that are accredited through the AVMA after 1977 during the time of graduation is going to be exempt out of this requirement.


Senior students: Senior students must submit an attested letter in the accredited veterinary medical college creating their senior status by the date from the Condition examination.

2. NAVLE (United States Veterinary Certification Examination): Licensed copy from the NAVLE examination results is needed for candidates who've taken and passed test.

National Board Exams and Clinical Competency Examination (CCT): See explanations

National Board Exams: Licensed copy of national board examination results is needed. Candidates who've taken or who've put on take NAVLE exam are exempt from the Clinical Competency Examination. AND
