Dr. Robert K. Gay

Dr. Robert K. Gay, the founding father of the Dwight Veterinary Clinic which developed in to the Dwight-Pine Bluff-Lakewood Animal Hospitals, LLC died on Feb 14, 2005. Our treatment centers lost an very gifted vet along with a true friend. Dr. Gay was famous mentor of numerous youthful vets and hang in the close ties which may keep your practice going.

Dr. Gay finished the Ontario Farming College and Ontario Veterinary College from the College of Guelph, Canada in 1950. He opened up his first clinic in Dwight in 1951, then the Pine Bluff Animal Hospital in 1975 and so the Lakewood Animal Hospital in 1992.

Dr. Gay is going to be appreciated for his passion of creatures and the devotion to folks of Central, Illinois. In the own words, “I have no idea things i might have rather done and that i have no idea a location I’d favour tried it in. It’s been an excellent existence."

OUR HISTORY...

The Dwight Veterinary Clinic opened up its doorways in June of 1951 underneath the possession of Dr. Robert K. Gay. In those days the practice was mainly food animal related. Within the late nineteen fifties using the alternation in agriculture practice, Dr. Gay's veterinary practice progressively transformed to dealing with more companion creatures.

By 1975, Dr. Gay had broadened his practice to 6 vets and opened up the Pine Bluff Animal Hospital. At this time around, the practice was 60% small animal and 40% large animal.

In 1999, an L.L.C. was created with Dr. Gay, Dr. Louis Cronin (Kansas Condition, 1975), Dr. Ray Manley (Missouri, 1976), Dr. John Schmidt (Illinois, 1982) and Dr. R. Todd Gay (Illinois, 1983). At that time, the practice transformed its focus to completely small creatures.

In 2002, Lakewood Animal Hospital opened up its doorways to higher accommodate the Morris area clientele. This Year, the practice added its 4th clinic, Skinner Animal Clinic, serving the Wilmington area.

All locations are full-service hospitals including general medicine, surgery, dentistry, dietary and behavior counseling and emergency services. Pine Bluff Animal Hospital is our referral center, carrying out memory foam and soft tissue surgical procedures for the patients along with other treatment centers in the region.
