Career Paths

Veterinary technologies are career centered on the nursing facets of veterinary medicine. If your main goal will be a Physician of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), the veterinary technology courses won't satisfy the undergraduate needs for many veterinary school admissions. Veterinary Technology Education

The Purdue Veterinary Technology program is fully accredited through the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and it is a science based veterinary nursing program supplying a Bachelor's and Connect of Applied Science levels.

As a fundamental element of the veterinary team, veterinary specialists and technologists perform an array of veterinary abilities:

  • Radiology
  • Nursing care, including pre and publish-surgical care
  • Anesthesia
  • Client education

While most veterinary specialists and technologists go into the profession privately veterinary practice, you will find a number of other employment possibilities having a Veterinary Technology degree:

On Campus Education

This educational path is most effective for individuals students who are able to:

  • Be considered a full-time undergraduate student
  • Satisfy the competitive admission criteria

Distance Education

This educational path is most effective for individuals students who:

  • Favors to consider classes part-time
  • Need to maintain their current residence and employment

    • Veterinary medicine is a graduate level professional program. You have to do pre-vet at the undergraduate level first. Social Work can be either undergraduate (BSW) or graduate (MSW).
      I am guessing that you are still in high school and looking for places to do your undergraduate work.
      Also, New York is a big state. Two to three hours away from where in New York?
      You can do pre-vet at just about any major college, but he only vet schools in New York are at Cornell in Ithaca and at the Animal Medical Center in NYC. Check their web sites for their admission criteria.
